Yamazaki Limited Edition 2022 Japanese Whisky

$720.00

There will not be a better time to buy - Suntory seem to have quietly released more of these than initially announced as the prices seem to be getting better. In my latest shipment of these, I have been able to get the prices down even further thanks to a strong AUD/Yen conversion and the market price drops. Now is the absolute best time to buy, as they will increase in value as the 2023 releases come through and more bottles are consumed.

Suntory playing with our hearts again! This time the 2022 limited Edition instalment has only been release locally in Japan and only via a ballot that you can enter if you live in Japan. The out turn of this 2022 Edition was initially announced as only 1,000 bottles and that were released as ballot to the local Japanese market but these seems to have changed at some point.

“Yamazaki LIMITED EDITION 2022" is a limited edition blend of raw malt that has been aged for over 12 years in new barrels made of Mizunara wood. So far that’s all we know is that this is a blend of whisky with the youngest whisky in the blend being greater than 12 years old.

Although barrels are used repeatedly in whisky making, the barrels in which this whisky raw liquor is first aged after being made are called "new barrels".

This Limited Edition features a barrel aroma and a thick taste derived from "Mizunara Shin-Taruhara Sake".

How many bottles are likely to make it to Australia? Who knows… But as an avid collector myself I have made sure I snagged a bottle. These are definitely harder to get hold of than the 2021 variant so I do not imagine there will be very many bottles floating around.

Tasting Notes:

Nose:
Pineapple, Orange, Nutmeg

Palate:
Honey, Coconut Cream, Blueberries

Finish:
Vanilla, Ginger, Faint Smoke

700ml 43% Alcohol
