Yamazaki Peated Malt Spanish Oak Kogei Collection
Chief blender Shinji Fukuyo’s elegant exploration of peated malts and Spanish oak casks for the Yamazaki distillery and Hakushu distillery, presented with beautiful design from Chiso Kimono House.
The Yamazaki design expresses the merging of three rivers near the distillery, featuring cloud-inspired gold stamps and misty overtones. For Hakushu, the Japanese Southern Alps are brought to life, with delicate silver stamps floating as clouds above the forest.
The warm climate of Yamazaki also creates tropical fruit notes, while the use of peated malt imparts a pleasing smokiness – accentuating the unique and colorful spice notes from the Spanish oak casks. This combo is a very sort after flavour profile known to be unique to the 1960s.
Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Dark mocha, raisins, almonds.
Palate:
Deep smokiness, roasted cacao.
Finish:
A long finish revealing bittersweet caramelized baking spices.
700ml 43% Alcohol
